drying shed

 been building a shed up the back since before christmas and over the last few days have managed to nearly finish it.when completed it will be fully insulated and heated with an old wood burning fire with a wetback so that inside the shed will be a constant 38 degrees.this will allow me to make liquid fertiliser quickly and provide bio gas as a by product hopefully in enough quantity to generate  power.stay tuned for updates

 With the live video feed nearly ready its good to see the girls all settling in.  Some new ones  arriving tomorrow, so there will no doubt be a few noises in the hen house as they get to know everyone.

It's April, and things need doing...

  monday morning,and the day dawned with a light fog,promising a great day whitch is good because,as always, the list of things to do is long.I have altered the smokehouse to provide for better flow and greater capacity and after writing this,i"ll fire it up and start smoking another batch of that damn fine garlic salt. there's a lot of planting to do,garden beds to prepare, and all the other stuff that gos with living on a small farm
